The 80’s

The 80’s

1980

OK… This is like going back and listening to a tape of myself in high school. The show began May 4, 1980. In those early day, I prerecorded the half-hour show and began doing the show live in the Fall of that year. Here’s a show from June 22, 1980 was just a few weeks in. Enjoy!

Bob Bennett visited in September 1982Bob Bennett first came to visit us when the show aired on SM-95. This
was September 26, 1982.  (Note: in the concert calendar, we have a concert from “Mike & Debbie Smith”. We had not yet met Michael W. Smith. It would be a few months before the release of “Smitty’s” first LP.)

"If I Had a Hammer" -with Noel Paul Stookey -Nov 10, 1985

Noel Paul Stookey -Nov 10, 1985Noel Paul Stookey was in town on November 10, 1985 to record a Peter, Paul, & Mary TV special. He made time for us the morning between the two video tapings. Growing up, I had always heard what he would do if he “…had a hammer”… so I gave him one!

Cass-032287 bMarch 22, 1987 was the Sunday before GMA week. Instead of a studio full of guests, we focused on clips of interviews from recent guests. I had forgotten about some of these. Enjoy these snips from: Annie Herring (2nd Chapter of Acts), Kenny Marks, Michael Card, Amy Grant, Kathy Troccoli, Greg Volz, Steve Camp, John Lawry (Petra), Morgan Cryar, and Dan Peek (America).

1988

April 13, 1988 Channel TWO in Nashville aired a story on our Sunday morning show. Gary Chapman happened to be our guest. We were premiering his project, “Everyday Man“. With us were also Jerry McPherson and Mike Bringnadello. The reporter was Melissa Penry. She and I worked together years earlier at WSM.
